Late in the evening, Ryan and I wandered the streets of Antigua with a half-purpose to find coffee or some other fixture or distraction. But it was the intent behind walking and moving that propelled us away from the hotel, away from the rest of the group. He'd been my student for the past four years, but as we sauntered through the side streets and alleys of Antigua, I realized how much of a friend he had become.
Sometimes travel isn't about the destination, the journey, or even the people you meet. Sometimes travel is about taking what you've already known, and giving yourself the time and space to show how much a part of you it's become.
