Fellow travel writer Megan Wood recently took a trip to Palau, a tiny island nation on the fringes of the Philippine Sea, for some time exploring the mystery of this crazy convergence of land and sea. This marine lake, like some six-dozen others in the surrounding area, remains cut off from the rest of the ocean, but its invertebrate inhabitants have, over time, lost most of their sting.
Basically, if you've ever wanted to swim through a cloud of jellyfish, this is where you need to go.
